It is my understanding that Reiki, an ancient healing method, is a holistic therapy which can awaken the life force energy existent in us all, to flow as it is meant to. While there are many different possibilities, it is my belief that Reiki originated in Tibet 2,500 years ago and was rediscovered in the 1900′s by Dr. Mikao Usui a Japanese monk.
Dr. Usui was searching for personal enlightenment at Mr. Kurama when he made this discovery. In a mystical revelation Dr. Usui received the ability of healing without energy depletion and the knowledge to apply this healing and to attune others.
Roughly translated; Rei means “god’s wisdom” or “The Higher Power” and Ki means “life force energy”, together meaning “spiritually guided life force energy”.
Reiki is a time honored sacred method of bringing balance and harmony to the body, mind and soul, by acting as a connection with ever flowing “prana” universal life energy. Universal Life Energy is the life force or living energy that sustains life of organs, cells, tissue and blood. As a spiritual entity the life force is considered our connective flow to the creator. Also known as, Chi or qi (Chinese), Prana (Hindi), Ki (Japanese).
This energy, is an “intelligent energy” flowing from the hands of a Reiki giver to wherever it is needed for a persons highest good. Reiki is not harmful in any way and can be felt as a relaxing meditation. Reiki can ease chronic pain, reduce stress, accelerate healing, clear emotional blocks and more. A Reiki session can fill you with energies that uplift your frequencies.
A clear intention may be set as the session begins, this is helpful for both the practitioner and the recipient. This intention can create greater focus and understanding. The Reiki practitioner will place their hands on different parts of the body for a few minutes at a time. The recipient often feels warmth or tingling in the area being treated and may feel deeply relaxed, that's a healing in itself.
Becoming a Reiki practitioner is simple and anyone can do it. Reiki is transferred by a Reiki Master Teacher to the Reiki student by attunement or transmission. This allows the student to tap into an unlimited supply of life force energy.
