~smell: I believe that our sense of smell and hearing also greatly affect us. During a session I may use essential oils, as an aid for relaxation and grounding. If you think about it, when you've passed a certain plant or even food being cooked you are literally transported to an association that scent has for you. Our olfactory system is so much more than we may give it credit for.
Plants have been used medicinally by indigenous peoples all over the world throughout recorded time. In the 1920's Rene-Maurice Gattlefosse, a French chemist, was convinced that the healing powers of essential oils could be absorbed into the bloodstream when applied to the skin and had medicinal effects inside the body. In WW2 Dr. Jean Valnet used essential oils to treat soldiers and Marguerite Mabury, a European biochemist, performed thorough studies on the influence of essential oils on the body and emotions.

~sound: after viewing a workshop fascilatated by Hank Wesselman author of: The Journey to the Sacred Garden: A Guide to Traveling in the Spiritual Realms, I saw how sound plays a big part in our lives. There are many scientific studies on the use of sound therapy as a healing agent. The cadence of drums, the beauty of the sitar and the toned guitar. Sound also has played a role in tribal communities and is used in many forms for healing and relaxation today.
The human body is made up of electronic vibrations, with each atom and element of the body, each organ and organism, having its electronic unit of vibration necessary for the sustenance of and equilibrium in, that particular organism." Edgar Cayce
